Ruth Ann Reinhardt Bishop

Ruth Ann Reinhardt Bishop, Soprano, teaches voice and piano at Piedmont Virginia Community College and in her home studio in Charlottesville, Virginia. She has music degrees from the University of Illinois and the Catholic University of America, and is a member of the Nat’l Ass’n of teachers of Singing. Her past voice teaching experience includes the University of Maryland, Roosevelt University of Chicago, and several community colleges.

As a performer, Ms. Bishop is versatile in opera, oratorio, recital work, and musical theatre. She has performed at the Kennedy Center, as soprano soloist with the U.S. Navy Band in Washington D.C, and at Wolftrap. Her many opera and musical theatre roles include Violetta in Verdi’s La Traviata, Donna Anna in Mozart’s Don Giovanni, Mother Abbess in Rodgers’ Sound of Music, and Nettie in Carousel. Besides her many roles in the Chicago and Washington D.C. areas, she has performed in the Charlottesville, VA area with the Heritage Repertory Theatre and the Keswick Area Arts Association.

Laura Reinhardt Steele

Laura Reinhardt Steele majored in Voice Performance at the University of Illinois where she sang many coloratura leading roles such as Adele in Johann Strauss’s Die Fledermaus, and the Queen of the Night in Mozart’s Magic Flute.

During her college years, Laura also sang and danced professionally at Busch Gardens in Williamsburg, Virginia. She apprenticed with the Virginia Opera Company shortly after college graduation.

Ms. Steele has sung in various cities in the U.S. and abroad with her father, Bass-baritone John Reinhardt. Together with a professional ensemble of other performers, they bring opera to children through the Pocket Opera Players productions. Some of the titles known to children everywhere are: Tales from the Vienna Woods, The Agent, and The Star and the Birdcatcher. Laura is of course the featured coloratura of the show! No stranger to music theatre, Ms. Steele has performed such roles as Laurie in Rodgers’ Oklahoma and Guenevere in Loewe’s Camelot.
